is anyone old enough to remember the knitted swimming costumes way back in the late 40’s my neighbour knitted me and my twin sister one, the first time in the sea it went all baggy and finished up round our ankles and the sea water turned a shade of red.

Lovely stockings.  I’m in my mid 50’s and thankfully I didn’t have to wear knitted knickers or swimsuites, but my Mum has made me laugh telling me tales of hers when she was little.

Hi girls, I got the book so now have the next few weeks booked with knitting projects.

Baby bolero (nearly done)
two pairs of fingerless gloves for in-laws
ribbon knit shawl for me

That should see me set now for a while.

Love Sues

OH, YES!!!!! I have posted pics on the thread way back of some of my vintage patterns. When I say vintage ..I MEAN vintage. Not something that came out in the 60s and 70s! I have patterns for mens, womens and childrens swimsuits. The mens are very daring......eat your heart out Beckham!!!! LOL  LOL

hi Sues
glad you got the book, you will spend hours going through it.I got mine from a charity shop. it was a bit tatty and lots of numbers scribbled on it, I hate to see patterns treated like that, the robins are really easy to do and look good on top of Christmas presents I done mine on the garland ring page 20/21 and then you can sew on their feet.
happy knitting

Cor they’re lovely.  I am knitting my own stocking (of sorts!) cos I got knee length boots and wanted knee length socks to go with so have started making myself a pair.  Of course pics will feet-ure (geddit?!!) on ehre when they’re finished but it wont be for a while I can tell you!  I was only thinking the other day that the patterns for beaded christmas decs and the mini knitted stockings I got out last year but didn’t have enough time to start will have to come out soon so I can get a wriggle on with them.  Especially the beaded father christmas heads I think cos I reckon despite their size they’re going to take an age to finish!  And that’s without the kit for a beaded crystal angel I’ve still got un-started from last year too… The stockings look fab Ann.  Making me want to start one now.  !!
