Hello all!

Just wondered if any of you had attempted the top that featured on the front cover of the August mag. The short sleeved 50s style - bluey green. It was made in Sirdar Blur and I was wondering if you found this a bit too itchy?

Am seriously considering making it but it’ll be my first big knitted project so wasnt to get it right.

Nic

If your not sure buy a cheaper wool and knit it, then if you like it you could knit it again with a twist, instead of just plain knitting moss st, dbl moss stitch or any other pattern that you would find easy. If you don’t like it its not such a wrench having spent so much money on a first time project. If in doubt change what you can. good luck

I think you should give it a whirl!  I don’t think the wool is going to be scratchy - if I remember rightit was a blend with mohair in it rather than pure mohair which can sometimes be “itchy”, so should be nice and soft!  I am thinking of giving that one a go myself.

Don’t forget to post a piccy when you have knitted it!

Right, I’ve ordered the wool - it’s discounted on craftshopsupply so they must be discontinuing it or something! The top will cost me under 10 pounds to make so I’ll be super chuffed if it turns out alright. Now I just need to buy the needles - I own every needle but a 5.5mm straight and 5.5mm circular! What sort of length do you think I should get for the circular? Ooooh! I’m excited now!

Pends what you are using the circular for - probably about an 80cm one should do if it’s for the neckline.
