Hi debs welcome its nice to hear from another knitaholic. I was at the dentist and went into Poundstretcher where they have some cheap wool (Acrylic) they have added a new one made from Nylon and quite sparkly £1 per 100grms thought it wasn’t too bad 5mm pins so its quite thick. Walked to stitch in time IT WAS SHUT BOOHOO. I think it was lunch time and I will have to go again when no one is watching, its like a covert operation buying wool and not letting people know. Its sooo adictive lol. I’ll be needing some knitting therapy soon.

Hi there! Fellow Scot replying, I have literally just joined so this is all very new to me & the first time I have ever replied to someone’s message.
What sort of things do you like knitting? I teach primary school children the basics which is great fun but very hard work as well! I seldom tackle stuff for myself, other than scarves, but am in the middle of a cardigan & handbag for my grown-up granddaughter but have to confess it has been on the pins for a very long time.
Hope you get more replies very soon. Don’t know how often I shall dip into the forum but I’ll have a wee look every now & then. Hope you enjoy your membership
Welcome to the forum p1k1...I’m also from Scotland....Ayrshire. Where do you hail from? Pop in as often as you can....the banter is great and help is always just a post away if you need it. It must be fun working with the kids....is it needlework you teach?
Hi Nessa, thanks for reply. I felt such a fool because when I sent you my message I thought you hadn’t had any replies at all, I’d only seen your very first post. Later on I came across all the others!
Anyway, I’m near Stirling, born in Fife eons ago. I teach - or try to teach the kids knitting. Can anyone advise on how to get the little darlings to loosen up their tension
Also last time I thought I had to sign p1k1 but now I see everyone has a signature, so ‘bye for now,
Mel.

Gill’s right (post above) Mel...they will find their own little ways and it will be thanks to you for giving them the encouragement and your time.
Yes at the beginning...many pages back...of this thread I came on not knowing anyone and pleaded for someone to speak to me ...and then the flood gates opened. Gill..Knitternicky...Grant42...Suse and myself were amongst the first on the forum and we have got to know each other and most of the others now on here...so you will find it a friendly helpful place and lots of good banter. You’ll soon find your way around the different threads...so keep posting.
I’m in Maybole in Ayrshire...we come up to Stirling some Saturdays or sometimes go on up to Perth. How is Stirling for wool shops Mel?
I’m living in Glasgow but from Western Isles. I used to share a flat when I first started uni with a girl from Maybole in Ayrshire. She was lovely but went home every single weekend so didn’t see that much of her.
I live round the corner from K1 Knits and would love to go and have a proper browse but since I’m a very new knitter I haven’t a clue really about wool and because it’s a small shop I feel really self-conscious in there?!? Does that make any sense?
HI CONNIE I USED TO LIVE IN WESTERN ISLES ALL MY BOYS WERE BORN UP THERE, MY MUM STILLS LIVES THERE, A LOVELY PLACE TO BE AT TIMES HOPE YOU NENJOY THIS KNITTING FORUM ITS AMAZING THE PEOPLE YOU MEET
Hi, Connie. I love Glasgow. I’m in Montrose now but I still come to Glasgow a few times a year.
Haven’t been to the K1 shop yet. Bet it’s got lovely stuff. You don’t need to be a knitting nerd to know what you like - why don’t you go in for a browse...I’m sure the staff in the shop would be happy to see you there.
