Hey EVERYONE,

My name is Del and as you’ve probably guessed I’m from Harrow - North West London.

I began knitting at the start of this year.  My friend taught me the basics and then I started to buy ‘Lets knit’ which I really enjoy reading.  I can’t wait till I am advanced enough to start the patterns in the magazine.  There are some real good things to knit in there.  I have done a hat and a paw pattern (for practice) and am currently doing a basic cardigan under the watchful eye of my friend.
Even though I enjoy knitting I don’t get to spend the amount of time on it as I would like - I have a 7 month old son who loves taking up my time (I don’t mind really).

The next project i’m going to do is a pink scarf with a cable pattern for my sister.  I have got things off eBay to start including yarn, darning needles and cable needles- there aren’t much shops I can get knitting things from.  I saw how to do cable knitting in issue 3 so i’ll give that a go after the cardigan.

Anyway, it’ll be nice to chat with people about knitting as it seems i’m the only one around....(apart from my friend...)

Bye for now,

Del*

Hello Del...and welcome to the forum.  You’ll find us all a friendly bunch here and you’ll get to know us very quickly.  It won’t be long until you find yourself wanting to try something more advanced and most patterns are very clear in their instuctions so don’t be afraid to give one a try.  It’s unfortunate that you don’t have a good local yarn shop near you as they can usually be quite helpful but don’t be afraid to ask anything on here as any of us will be glad to post an answer to your queries.
With a seven month old baby I can understand your knitting tim will be limited but keep at it Del and you will gain experience and I’m sure you will like some of us become addicted to needles and yarn.  Good luck with the scarfe and happy kniiting.

Hi Del
I know how frustrating it is when you can’t find enough time to practise your knitting - I end up snatching a bit of time on trains or wherever I can fit it in.
Hope you keep on at it.

Hi Del welcome to the forum!
I think you’re amazing learning to knit while you have a young baby. Be as patient with yourself as you are with your son, he has had to learn to hold his head up before he could sit, and you will learn to knit steadily too.
Tell us more about your little boy and what you are making.
