My mum bought me a pine blanket chest for Christmas. It’s lovely, but it’s five foot across. The problem is it’s now full of wool, then I have wool downstairs in another trunk, plus unfinished items. I can’t resist bargains, and if I go to a new town, I am always on the look out for new yarn shops. It’s so addictive. I wonder if I have OCD??

Hi sally, no you possibly won’t use it up in one lifetime but I bet it still gives you lots of pleasure looking and touching and picturing it all knitted up into beautiful projects. I know my ever increasing vast hoard does (I’m currently waiting for 2 ebay auctions to finish to see if I have won more). Thats 2 resoultions I’ve broken
1 to not buy any more yarn
and when I broke that one
2 to alternate between stash yarn and new yarn for new projects.
ooooooooooooooooooppppss. oh oh
I can’t help it, I’ve tried but I cant.
I’m hoping people will start posting pics of their stashes so I can feel better about mine but I suspect that will mean an awful lot of wormcans being opened that people are not ready to face up to.  red face  LOL

Hi ladies...so good to know that I am not the only one who is addicted to yarn shops and buying them out.  However I do try to use mot of my stash as I feel this is the only way I can justify buying more.  I love to see and feel the squishy balls but I love more to see it knitted up into garments of whatever kind.  When we are out for the day and I come across a yarn shop I am always glad that my hubby prefers to take his newspaper somewhere to have a read and let me have my time in the shop...otherwise he would see just how much I buy confused He hardly ever goes into cupboards so my stash is safe. rolleyes

Glad to hear I am not the only person with a massive stash of wool!

I have about three bin bags worth, and I am always wanting to buy more. I buy more than I need by far, I think it is a compulsion, especially if it is on sale or something. I buy it thinking “ oooh thats cheap I might use that for something one day”

My husband says I have to stop!

Haha,

I agree with the above, my hubby2b was hugging me yesterday cos he loved seeing just how kid-like I got when I opened my big box of yarn that came yesterday and piled it all up according to the projects it was for and showed him all the patterns.  He was cooing over a nice yarn I’d chosen for a wee top for my 2 yr old cuz!!  He’s just amused by my enthusiasm and has given up worrying about it smile aww I love being his pet person.  He’s into cats so I think my yarn-obsession must remind him of one...?

Hi!

I am sooooooo relieved to read of someone else who cannot resist Ebay’s yarn siren call!  LOL  (I am trying though...and I have lasted oooooh 2 weeks I think without buying ANY more yarn smile ....not so controlled on the patterns front long face  ...but I am only human!  tongue laugh

Just started on Direct Payments for care and domestic tasks - my friend has suggested that maybe one of the first domestic tasks I should tackle with my carers help is the wool that is flowing out of the wardrobe and lying in wait to trip people up by the bed!  red face  But he is a spoil sport!  tongue rolleye Ooooooh, he’s bringing his partner round this afternoon (she’s another knitting knutter ) - that means knitting needle jabs in stereo when he starts grumbling....  grin

HI and welcome to the world of wool hoarders and patterns stashers. Along with everything else I hoard I tell my No1 daughter that its her pension as there probably wont be any when she gets to retirment age!!!!! She takes a look now and then in my sewing/knitting room, sighs and backs out of it, tuts at me and rolleyes  Its a good job I have her she does understand really.  I love the idea of oin jabs in sterio my hubby known as “He who nags” keeps well away when the pins are out!!!!!!.  GILLxx
