I don’t know about that - I’m 34 and I still get weird looks from friends when I say I knit.  Trouble is, it’s perceived as only being for ‘old people’ because non-knitters are unaware of all the cool things there are to knit!  I’m still determined to make a Noni bag so that when people ask me where I got it from, I can say I made it myself!!!

Which goes exactly back to what I was saying about that flippin shreddies advert!

Sorry, sorry, I know, I’ll stop banging on about it, but it does make my blood boil!!!

mad

I really struggle with decreasing at neck and armhole on different rows for so many rows. God I get confused. But if I’m sat comfortably with the dogs all over me and knitting on the go. I can’t get up and get pen and paper to jot it down, then end up getting it all wrong and frog and start again! Everytime I do it, i think it would have been quicker to disturb everyone and got a pen!

Have you tried having a row counter on both needles - one for the armhole decreases and the other for the neck decreases?  It might help.

Going back to the age thing, most of my uk friends accept that I knit,(I’m 31 btw) but it has been a whole new kettle of fish here in italy. My friends here think I’m mad, but I don’t think italy has quite caught up yet with how lovely knitting can be. Also I remember similar when I just couldn’t put a book down at secondary school and would wander around reading between lessons and at break times! It’s good to do your own thing and it gives everyone else something to talk about....

As for my own pet hates - well I don’t mind sewing up, but I do have a problem with the lack of time given in all the beginner books I have for left handed knitters. Just learn right handed is not an option. I just kinda have to work out how to do things on my own as my knitting is backwards. Must admit that I haven’t tried a lace pattern yet as i can forsee trouble ahead…

Sorry LUCY, I have been having a “senior” moment. I forgot we were on the “pet hate” thread so I was a bit muddled. I understand your post now red face  Don’t let the teens get to you, it is their loss. You have a skill that they have’nt and you will always have that. wink

People think I’m weird for knitting and I’m 29! My pet hate is getting all excited about a project and then realising half way through that it’s the dullest slowest thing to knit in the world and loosing the will to live! I also hate ribbing, mainly because it’s so slow. I love it when it’s done because you get that whole wow look at what I did feeling, but actually doing it, argh!!

Mine are being interrupted when I’m counting and being called an old granny by my hubby for knitting!

I hate my pretty stitch markers! They look so nice but they keep getting caught up in my lace pattern and I’ve had to resort to plain plastic rings. mad

sewing up, it drives me nuts!!

Trouble is, it’s so much easier to strip off when you are wearing a cardigan.

I hadn’t realised that strippers wore cardies! LOL  LOL  LOL

teenknitter… if your “pals” give you grief, tell them you’re designing your own stuff.
That sounds much more cool!
