I have recently started knitting again thanks to this brill modern new magazine.  I was taught to knit as a child and endured much teasing from my friends, but it didn’t stop me.  Now I am a mother of three and have just taught my eldest to knit, they also teach this in her school along with crochet!!  Apparently its cool and so am I!

Hi Nadiab, Welcome to the forum, People who pass on the craft are very welcome and if your daughter enjoys knitting too then I would think that both of you will find many interesting subjects and links on the forum you can explore together.
Have fun!
Nicky

Welcome to the forum Nadiab...it is good to hear that crafts such as knitting and crochet are being taught in schools as they were years ago.  I loved it when sometimes we had a whole afternoon of crafts..knitting and sewing. I hope your daughter comes to love it and carry on with it.

welcome to the forum Nadia B!
It’s amazing when your kids think you’re cool isn’t it? I only took up knitting properly last year (despite being taught by my gran over 30 years ago.) One of the first things I made was a funky fur scarf for my daughter. She was delighted to be the height of fashion and even more pleased to tell the other girls at school that they couldn’t buy a scarf like hers as it was an original, made by her Mum !

Hi and welcome to the forum!

its great that your eldest now knits - I have a boy and fully intend to at least teach him to rudiments of knitting, and sewing (so he can sew buttons on!)

My school did cookery and sewing - it seems some schools dont do this any more - is that right?

I think it depends on the school.
our primary school had limited facilites for cooking but my daughter has done a lot in her first term at High School: soup, pasta with a tomato sauce, fajitas with a veg sauce and cheese, french bread pizza, smoothies, biscuits, chocolate truffles.
She should get some sewing experience this term as well.

Hi and welcome to this site. I’ve been on here a few weeks and love it, I’m learning so much. I have been knitting and crocheting every day since joining and am waiting to get some photos of projects I have finished to share.
