Who are all these people who change things, certainly not the majority of the public, we vote them in and then they do the opposite of what we want them too !!! x Janet

Agree about the babies weight bit Tiddlerpuss.  My grand daughter is Dutch and when she was born we were given her weight and length in metric and I rushed off to measure in inches and work out what she weighed in pounds and ounses...they all had a good laugh LOL  My DIL and son thought nothing of it as everything is metric and nothing else in Holland.

We are not alone, most of my customers still ask for a yard of ribbon although they seem to have got to grips with grams of yarn:) We are all thrown when they are using old patterns that want ounces of wool, so I get my scales out and weigh the balls in ounces. LOL

Just found his thread, I am 45 so mostly do imperial, but measure knitting in centimetres at a push! The only time I swore was after having my daughter was when they told me what her weight was in imperial, 4000 and something gms, 9lb 3!! OWW! She will be an only child!!

I was at school when they started doing the cm bit - but couldn’t get the hang of it.  A few trips to Spain to see Uncle where EVERYTHING is metric and you have to start to learn! I do somethings metric - like balls of wool, don’t think I would have been buying imperial wool measures, bit too long ago for me. But I struggle cos I never do one or the other consistently! Sometimes I measure length in inches, sometimes in cm. My fancy wall hung cooking scale is set to grammes, but mainly cos the cookies cookbook I was using only had grammes in it!  AARRGGGHHH.  They’ll be making us buy straight bananas next you see…

Why does everything change, sob sob!!
