im kniting this cotton cardi with stripes on it for my little one and its the embroidery that is driving me nuts! ive done 2 rows of lazy daisies and theres 13 of them to the row, 6 more rows to go and also ive had a go at bullion knots and i dont like them so may take them out and do crosses instead (like cross stich). im terrible at finishing things off and im tempted to throw it in the bin but im going to keep going. ive worked hard on it, its the first time ive picked up stitches and also used a circular needle for the collar. will post a pic when its done. maybe take me another month lol by the rate im going as i just do it for an hour a night when i can be bothered!!

Oh Joanne that sounds really nice - it sounds very detailed PLEASE stick at it - when you’re finding it tough going just try to imagine how much that little cardi would cost you if you had to pay someone to make it - hand knitted, with all that lovely embroidery on it? Phew a fortune! And as far as I’m concerned there’s no problem substituting Bullions for cross stitch - makes it individual - nay a Designer Garment! My friend at the wool shop says she hears her two daughters friends asking where they got such and such a garment, and when the girls say “My MUM knitted it” (brimming with pride too) the friends invariably ask if they can have one and the Girls answer with a very insistant “NO”!! Good job for my friend cos she knits a lot already without loadsa things for the girls friends!!
Try having a little break from it - even if you do a few daisies then a few rows of something else (plain knitting you can zip away at!) - it may JUST be enough to keep you sane! I know how you feel tho - I remember knitting hubby (back when he was a mere bf) a double moss stitch shawl collar cardi. The pattern wasn’t the problem but the fact he wanted it in black was! I worked full time so could only knit at night - and even now 15 years laters when he wears it or I wash it I can see the two rows of mistaken knitting on one of the sleeves shouting “yoo hoo I’m here - I’m a big mistake”!!! How the blithering hell can I see it now but not when I was knitting it. Grrrr.....
