I am so chuffed with myself - I have mastered continental knitting!!  I’m not as fast as I can be with the wool in my right hand but I can manage a fair pace without having to concentrate on it too hard.  I’ve been practicing for 2 days.  My current project has a looming deadline so I have been knitting a lot and my right hand was beginning to hurt every time I picked up my knitting, especially in my pinkie finger which I generally use to control tension so I had to try something else.  For a while holding the yarn differently helped but after a while even that didn’t help so I thought I’d try the left hand method and weyhey it works!  Now all I need to do is stop my forearms aching.  I have knitted 2100 stitches tonight so I guess that explains it!

I know small things please small minds but I’m just so pleased with myself for learning a new technique!!

Congratulations, Butterflies!

Don’t put yourself down, mastering a new technique is no small thing! I know I would struggle to make my left hand work in that way. I have read about continental knitting, and it just sounds really hard! So, well done.

Well done, that is a skill I have never mastered. Maybe as our old friend Arfur Ritus comes to call towards winter I might have another go. It sounds as if it could be useful.  smile

Yes WELL DONE!!I can’t imagine how hard it musta been - I imagine all the time you were doing it you wanted to revert to the “normal” way.  I think I’ll stick to the way I do it now I’ve had enough excitement for one weekend - nay a lifetime… red face

Well done for sticking it out, I keep trying to teach myself but give up after about 5 minutes.  I’ll have another go and keep reminding myself that it can be done!
