Yes, I know we all have our favourite crafts but I do feel that the paper brigade have rather taken over the shows and magazines. But I have seen various crafts come and go and have their day and they all seem to fall by the wayside but knitting is still there along with crochet. I think a lot of the reasons is that knitting and crochet are so portable. You cannot really pop a glue pot and scissors etc in your bag for a trip to work or on holiday.

No you cant Gill, you are right there,my next door neighbour makes cards she spends ages upstairs in her room making cards,i would rather spend ages knitting.

Hello Spyder, and welcome to us lot!!

I agree with you Gill and Cheryl. The first Crafts Beautiful I bought had lots of different things to try as it said CRAFTS beautiful, but as time has gone by the paper ones have taken over.  Shame as I haven’t come across a rounded CRAFTS magazine.

Anyway have fun Spyder wink

I’ve been into papercrafts for ages, so have always been quite happy about the stuff at the shows, but I did think that at a “Knitting and Stitching show” the emphasis would be on textile crafts. I object more to the stalls selling ironing-board covers and, to a lesser extent, clothing. They are necessities - my hard saving up for a show is purely for BUYING ME TREATS!

absolutely!
the show at SECC was divided into 2 halls papercrafts in one and fibre arts in the other, and that worked well.

I had to give up on the Harrogate Show as I thought £12 to go in and then the cost of petrol to get there and drinks etc was just too much. You are in effect paying to go shopping so when No1 and I looked at what there was that we were really interested in the cost was just not viable. We went to a show at Doncaster last year but once again the paper crafts far outnumbered the knitting and sewing so we will be thinking very carefully for this year.
