I feel a bit of a fraud, cos I haven’t knitted for ages!! The best thing I knitted was a baby’s zipped striped jacket and hat and some little knitted people including Father Christmas’s. It’s so great when you actually finish something and can say ‘wow’ I made that!!

Hi,

Welcome to the forum, what are you going to knit next?  Have you been inspired by any of the Let’s Knit mags?

Nice to meet you

Yes! I’ve made little things for little people and thought I should try something a little bigger for me!  (actually, a LOT bigger!) I’ve just found loads of knitting things in the attic, along with bags of wool...it doesn’t have a sell by date does it!?

oops sorry forgot, I’m from Hampshire, I’m really into crafty things and on the front of the new Craftsbeautiful mag, there’s a lovely lemon-y baby’s jacket, haven’t looked yet but think I will!

Welcome Spyder. I think you have a few neighbours who are knitters and on t’forum.
I gave up on Craftbeautiful as there was so little knitting, just lots of paper stuff.

Yes, I know we all have our favourite crafts but I do feel that the paper brigade have rather taken over the shows and magazines. But I have seen various crafts come and go and have their day and they all seem to fall by the wayside but knitting is still there along with crochet. I think a lot of the reasons is that knitting and crochet are so portable. You cannot really pop a glue pot and scissors etc in your bag for a trip to work or on holiday.

Hi Spyder, and welcome! I’m new here too, it’s great for advice, and for meeting other like-minded people, to waffle about our knitting and crochet, when everyone around us is woefully disinterested! (Or maybe I just go on about it too much!)

I’ve been into papercrafts for ages, so have always been quite happy about the stuff at the shows, but I did think that at a “Knitting and Stitching show” the emphasis would be on textile crafts. I object more to the stalls selling ironing-board covers and, to a lesser extent, clothing. They are necessities - my hard saving up for a show is purely for BUYING ME TREATS!
