I’m a bit like you Gill, lots of books, patterns and magazines! Also my computer is full of downloaded patterns or links to patterns online...I won’t have enough time if I lived 3 lifetimes to make everything but I keep looking!! cheese

aah, but I bet when you want to knit something you can’t find just the right pattern??? As I tell “HWN” I can always find what i am looking for but you never know if there might be a better version in another shop, book or website.. wink

Oh definately!! I love to sit and go through all of my patterns etc and think about what I’d like to make next, my boyfriend will sit and say that’s nice why don’t you make that, and I’ll keep looking for inspiration but secretly wishing I could make everything at once...probably why I have so many WIP.

I found 2 boys jumpers this week, 1 needs the front making and the other needs 1/2 a sleeve and the front...with I could be bothered to finish them. Truth is I don’t even remember when I started them!!! Oh and they are both cable and rather wonderfully made (if I do say so myself!!! tongue wink) so I daren’t frog the work. Dilemma....

O Lizzy what a shame if you don’t finish them it’ll be a waste of your efforts eh?  Will they still fit whoever you were making them for?  That’s more the point - after all you have worked on them but to finish them now “for the sake of it” sort of is a waste of time I think - if it turns out they don’t fit.  I would far rather frog the items (if I absolutely had to) so I could re-use the wool rather than have them sitting in my house not being worn and appreciated.

Well that’s what I think anyway!!!

I’ve no idea why I started making them, it must have been many many years ago! I don’t have kids and they were not for my nephew. I probably made them for a craft fair (I used to do alot of them before going back to Uni).

They are just made out of acrylic yarn so not expensive but I think i will finish them rather than frog them because of how long they will have taken to make.

Of course I’ve got to work out which size they were...not much of a problem at least.

Well I suppose you have always got the option of washing them then putting them away somewhere in a ziploc bag so in case the opportunity ever arises to give them to someone!  And if you’re anything like me - knitting’s knitting - if I could afford it I’d knit all sorts all the time!

Exactly...knitting is knitting. I’m sure they’ll find a good home even if it’s with 1 of the charities I knit for.

Definately...especially since they’ve probably been festering for over 10 years!! Poor unwanted jumpers!!

Ooh I was thinking oh I couldn’t leave any kniting for ages - then I remembered back ....  to one of the Entrelac cardigans which were all the rage ducky back in the 1990’s (err, or was it the 1980’s??) well anyway I never really got on with it, don’t know why although I suspect the new boyfriend at the time may .....  anyway back to THIS thread again - so I think it is still on the needles somewhere in the loft!!  And, I just discovered a bag with something knitted in it, and thought, o what’s this ??  Then realised it’s an eyelash yarn (multi-pinks) for my little niece.  Who hopefully won’t be married by the time I get around to doing a bit more of it!!  She’s only just turned a year old, so hopefully I will get it done for HER not one of her daughters! red face

The worst thing I have is some knitting from MIL, she started knitting a Fimble but couldn’t get it to look right when sewn up (all the pieces are knitted). She gave it all back to me to look at (it was my stash). She knits so loosely that I never got round to doing anything with it...can’t seem to bear throwing the knitting away (what a waste) but can’t be bothered frogging it either...This is where I need to tell my fella to do it then it’s out of my control!

Yes, it’s horrid when another knitter says can you just try and see what i’ve done here ...  especially if their tension is so wildly different from your own.  My MIL’s tension (when she knitted) was very loose too.  Her mental tension, well that’s something quite different!!  Maybe it’s BECAUSE her tension is so loose that it looks wrong.  Definitely give it to your OH - it may just give you the impetus to decide what to do with it based on his reaction!

I’m sure it’s because of her tension...I can only say that, rather than agree with her that it’s the pattern, because she isn’t reading this!!!

Oh yes!! I’ve just got the Fimble out. There isn’t everything made and I can’t work out what is what piece, so I’ve laid out the pieces and I’ve made a toy. I’m going to sew it up and stuff it now. I’ll post a pic when I’ve finished...waste not want not!

Absolutely - and congrats on becoming a Sr Member. We both graduated today!

You see - where there’s a will there’s a way.
