What you need to know
This beginner-friendly pattern teaches how to knit simple stripes for a cute kid's bag.
When you’re small, your holiday must-takes generally include your purse, sunglasses and the pebble you found on the beach. Nicola Valiji's little shoulder bag project is the ideal size for all of those things – and probably a few more. The bags are worked in a stripe pattern, while the flap features eyelets and a faux picot effect!

Top knit tips
This pattern uses two types of increases, but the methods are not interchangeable. A ‘make one’ is worked between two stitches, while a ‘kfb’ is worked into a stitch. Using the wrong one could affect your stitch count, so double check the instructions first.
Sew the loop for the button before you sew on the button itself to get the positioning correct.
