Top Knit Tips
“Make sure to leave tails at the start and end of each knitted piece, to make the sewing up process easier at the end of the project.” LK DESIGNER, Sachiyo Ishii
When changing between colours, cross the yarns over on the wrong side to avoid leaving little holes in the work.
This project uses mattress stitch to close the seams, which is one of our favourite finishing techniques. It brings two pieces of knitting together with an invisible join, so it’s ideal for making toys that involve several different components.
“This project uses the intarsia method of colourwork to create a cute striped jersey. In intarsia, new lengths of yarn are added to the work for each separate vertical colour section. The white stripes on Frankie’s shorts are also worked using intarsia, but you’ll only need one length of white yarn for each leg. You can strand this white yarn behind the blue when working the vertical stripes as there are only a few stitches between the colours.
