This pretty teacosy project provides the perfect opportunity to try out Fair Isle knitting for the first time. It’s worked in a standard stocking stitch with easy stripes and a small section of colourwork. The flowers are also deceptively simple to create and they make for a striking addition that is sure to impress your friends and family.

Yarn: Rico Essentials Soft Merino Aran, shades 60 Natural, 2 Rose, 24 Jade Green, one 50g ball of each
Needles: 4.5mm

Top knit tip
When working Fair Isle, the yarns at the back of the work should always stay in the same relative position to each other, one above and one below. The one held below will stand out more and the one held above will recede. This is known as colour dominance. To make your Fair Isle motif stand out, ensure that you work it in the yarn held below – the more dominant colour.
